Trauma-Informed Care in Practice: Supporting Ourselves, Our Clients, and Our Systems

This one-day, in-person workshop offers nutrition and movement professionals a practical and reflective introduction to trauma-informed care, grounded in the realities of everyday practice. Together, we will explore three interconnected domains: ourselves as practitioners, the clients we support, and the systems in which care is delivered.
Through a combination of teaching, discussion, and guided reflection, participants will deepen their understanding of how trauma can shape relationships with food, body, movement, and healthcare. We will consider how our own experiences, beliefs, and professional roles influence the care we provide, and how cultivating awareness, regulation, and reflexivity can strengthen therapeutic relationships.
The workshop will also focus on recognising and responding to the diverse ways trauma may present in clients, moving beyond assumptions or checklists toward nuanced, person-centred care. Finally, we will zoom out to examine the broader systems we work within, identifying both barriers and opportunities for embedding trauma-informed principles into everyday practice.
Participants will leave with practical tools, reflective frameworks, and greater confidence to provide care that is safe, respectful, and responsive - for both clients and themselves.
Join us for this full-day, in-person event, to learn alongside and connect with like-minded peers.
This event is recommended for healthcare professionals with ≥ 5 years' work experience who are looking to extend their practice. If you are interested in attending but are an early career practitioner, please reach out to discuss suitability.
