This is an interactive workshop with both theory and practice. I hope to offer you some theoretical perspective understanding anxiety, some nervous system practices for regulating and soothing, and we will do some practical work together.
Anxiety is not the primary emotion, rather it is a calling of something else that wants to be seen; there is something underneath; something unheard; something suppressed; something protected.
In trauma work we often see two significant emotions underneath: anger and grief.
Anxiety is more often connected to developmental and relational trauma than to shock trauma; anxiety is not the fear of an external threat, it is the fear of an internal threat.
Healing anxiety, is meeting, receiving, and integrating that which lies beneath, unprocessed.
Healing anxiety is a dance of soothing and regulating, of finding strength, of making space, of meeting it and listening to its wisdom, and coming back to soothing, regulating and grounding.
I offer you this workshop on the basis of 12 years experience as a trauma healing practitioner and my training with teachers such as:
Gabor Mate (Compassionate Inquiry),
Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing),
Deb Dana and Stephen Porgess (Polyvagal theory),
Larry Heller (NARM),
as well as the work and perspectives of other wonderful teachers such as:
Janina Fisher and Pat Ogden (Sensorymotor psychotherapy),
Betsy Polatin,
Bessel Van Der Kolk,
Richard Schwartz,
and others.
My work also rests on my own healing journey, my own therapy experience, and also on 25 years of yogic practice and training, mainly in the Satyananda Yoga, Bihar School of Yoga, tradition.
My perspective is wholistic with a spiritual base.
