Topic- Black Self-Care and Wellness: A Community Led Needs Assessment
About this Event

Speakers: Dr. Karen Crozier & Dr. Sheila Thomas

Description: The Department of Behavioral Health, Fresno County, partnered with Jewel of Justice to conduct a community participatory action research (CPAR) needs assessment to better understand behavioral health awareness, literacy, and utilization of services of Black and African American people in Fresno County. The CPAR intervention process, outcomes, and recommendations will be co-presented by Dr. Karen Crozier, founder and president of Jewel of Justice, and Dr. Sheila Thomas, a member of the Leadership Council 4 Black SelfCare & Wellness (Fresno Housing). The 14-member Leadership Council played an integral role in decision-making, stewardship of resources, and CPAR implementation as a body that was organized by Jewel of Justice as a contract deliverable. This will include discussion to identify how you and your organization can help to advance this critical work.
