Transmission are proud to announce a night of in yer face DIY emo and punk, hosted by Lost art. Featuring COMMUTED, Dead Animals and Xavuer, this will be a night where trans individuals and allies alike are invited to release their ids, exorcise demons and come together in collective catharsis. Meaning there will be a lot of crowd interaction and screaming.
COMMUTEDOver the past decade Canadian performance artist / musician COMMUTED has developed a cult following in DIY spaces, squats and secret locations all over the world. Known for an idiosyncratic performance style where only 10% of his time is spent on stage, he’s been doused in ketchup and mustard, performed on construction vehicles outside of venues, explored every nook and cranny of each space he’s arrived at and left a mark on DIY communities globally. Beyond that, his raw, emotional music is made to bring walls down and expose vulnerability, with 6 LP’s including the acclaimed “Life Is Hell,” a politically charged array of breakbeats and emotional song writing, each performance is set like a narrative paced theatre piece.
Dead AnimalsRiding the mass hysteria of modern paranoia, Dead Animals are a direct reaction to a hostile world in which trans and queer people find themselves lost. Blending industrial grooves with harsh noise and lush ambience, Dead Animals is the love child of Nine Inch Nails and Scissor Sisters. Ruby Roadkill’s theatrics evoke that of Bowie’s darker moments, tinged with the aesthetics of kink and BDSM. Videocults brings an electroclash edge to the band on CDJs, whilst Georgio Onearmani’s polyrhythms and [REDACTED]’s evil sounds bleed into textures both familiar and alien. Through all this, Roadkill waxes poetic about love, hate, fear, pride, tackling themes of addiction and the death of western civilisation.
XavierXavier is a multidimensional artist whose shows can be described as unpredictable and raw. The energy he portrays can be traced back to the hardcore punk routes of 1980s LA, with bands such as the Germs and Darby Crash being labelled as a main influence to his stage presence. While going from a noisy, erratic sound his music can shift into an energetic outburst leaving the audience with no expectation to what’s coming next. One minute you’re in a moshpit with limbs flying through the crowd, and the next you’re at the club with your best friends like there’s no tomorrow.
