Transitional Housing Communities: Strategies for Recovery from Homelessness

Please join us for this one-day interactive symposium at Sacramento State University's Carlson Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The day will be dedicated to exploring innovative ways of designing safe and supportive transitional spaces (e.g., interim housing communities) for individuals experiencing homelessness in Sacramento County. The symposium will feature faculty and student research as well as professionals working to support our unhoused neighbors.

We hope you will commit to engaging with us on this topic for the full-day of presentations and collaborative discussion. Attendees will learn about a new set of tools, ideas (e.g., trauma-informed design), and proposals for local transitional housing communities as well as have the opportunity to create new partnerships in advancing solutions to this challenging issue.

This event is open to the public. Breakfast and lunch refreshments will be provided to those that RSVP. AIA Continuing Education Units will also be available in partnership with AIA Central Valley.

Our goals for the symposium include:

1. Providing a forum for knowledge-sharing between professionals, academics, students, and the community about current local and national short-term solutions to the homelessness crisis.
2. Creating opportunities for cross-disciplinary dialogue, problem solving, and feedback about real and proposed low-barrier transitional housing solutions for those experiencing homelessness in Sacramento.
3. Developing future partnerships and collaborations between a diverse set of problem solvers committed to working on solving the crisis of homelessness in our community.
