South Dakota Parent Connection is offering sessions to provide information & resources to parents and young adults ages 14 – 21 with disabilities from the Sioux Falls School District.There are Two Sessions Planned!
Friday, October 18th
5:30 - 8:00 pm
Attendance required for the parent/guardian(s) AND the student
Saturday, October 19th
8:30 - 3:00 pm
Attendance required for the parent/guardian(s) ONLY
The students will gain skills for using their voice, understand the importance of making connections and building relationships, build goals for the future based on their strengths and weaknesses, learn how your IEP supports your future, and get tips for finding and working with agencies that can give support.
The parent/guardian(s) will learn how their role in their child’s life is changing, get tips for teaching their young adult how to speak up, gain tools and strategies for making positive plans for the future, and learn how to support their young adult to navigate successfully through agencies and disability support systems.
Both sessions will be held at the South Dakota Parent Connection office located at 2310 North Maple Avenue, Rapid City.
