Malaysia Energy Transition:A Systems Dynamics Approach (Workshop)
Date: 22 April, 2026
Time: 9:00AM - 5:00PM
Venue: Level 2, CR-W2-04, Asia School of Business
Facilitator: Dr. Jude Kurniawan
This workshop explores Malaysia’s energy transition under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and NDC 3.0 using a System Dynamics approach. Through Participatory Systems Mapping (PSM), participants will collaboratively identify key variables, causal relationships, and feedback loops that influence the energy transition. The session aims to help participants think systemically about policy design, examine how interventions such as fuel subsidy reform affect areas like EV adoption, fiscal stability, and energy security, and identify strategic leverage points for more coherent and adaptive policy implementation.
Workshop Objectives: By the end of the session, participants will:
- Develop a systemic view of Malaysia’s energy transition.
- Identify reinforcing feedback loops influencing NETR outcomes.
- Surface structural trade-offs embedded in current policy design.
- Detect potential unintended consequences of major interventions (e.g., subsidy reform, EV incentives).
- Identify high-leverage intervention points for strategic alignment.
Transition in Action: Energy, Politics and Technology
