Please join us as we say the names and celebrate our Transgender/Nonbinary siblings lost to violence this year. Keynote Speaker: Laith Ashley
Laith Ashley is a singer/songwriter, dancer, model, actor and activist. Laith launched his career
with a campaign for Barneys New York, back in February 2014.
In 2017 he was the first transgender man to be featured in a Diesel campaign, and in February
2020, became one of the faces of the Abercrombie FIERCE campaign. Laith has been on the
cover of countless magazines and has had featured stories published on countless others all
around the world; the most recent being British GQ, in November 2018.
Laith was on the cast of reality TV series "Strut", executive produced by Whoopi Goldberg in
2016, and raised the heart rates of viewers in his appearance on season one of hit series, “Pose”,
on FX, and Taylor Swift’s Love interest in the music video for Lavender Haze.
Laith has been heavily involved with organizations like FLUX, the trans* division of Aids
Healthcare Foundation, to help raise the profile of the trans* and gender non-conforming
community by leveraging social events, safe spaces and innovative advocacy initiatives, and is a
customer advisory board member with FOLX Health, the amazing new way for queer people to
get access to competent healthcare.
He is continuing his work as an artist as well, performing at major events and Pride Festivals all
over the country.
His latest song releases are ‘Like Me’, ‘Can’t Wait’ and ‘Before You Go’. He also released a fun
upbeat song and music video with artist Kay’vion, called ‘Gym Class’, to help keep folks
motivated with their at home workouts while quarantined, and was featured on ‘Favorite’,
alongside, Kay’vion as well.
Laith graduated Fairfield University in 2012 with a degree in Psychology. Before beginning his
career in the entertainment industry, Laith was a counselor for homeless youth in New York City
and spearheaded trans sensitivity training in medical facilities and homeless shelters. He now
uses his platform to help inform others about the trans experience, and the experience of other
marginalized groups, as well as advocating for social justice, in hopes for a more open, loving
and accepting world.
