Join us for our Transgender Day of Remembrance & Resilience Service on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 6:00pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Binghamton. There will be a service and then a time of being in community with each other over a time of refreshments. Please bring finger foods, baked goods, or drinks if you can. ______________________________________________________________
Transgender Day of Remembrance is an action of revolutionary memory. We honor our siblings whose lives were stolen by lethal anti-trans violence. We gather because this violence is systemic.
It is deeply embedded in the Police State, as well as white supremacy, colonization, and capitalism, that enact violence through:
-Racialized Policing and brutality against trans people of color.
-Systemic Neglect—the deliberate denial of housing, general, healthcare, mental healthcare services, and education—which devalues the very capacity of trans people to live and flourish.
This service confronts the political escalation that attempts to silence us. We reject the push to categorize trans people and advocates as "Violent Extremists." This is an act of state violence—turning the marginalized into the supposed threat, justifying surveillance and further oppression. Our presence is a refusal to be terrorized. We dedicate this night to the absolute human worth, dignity, and flourishing of every trans person. Our resilience demands that we commit to healing and accountability that exist outside of carceral systems. Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming (GNC) people are the undisputed leaders of this liberation movement.
If you are Trans/GNC: This space is dedicated to your power. Come to grieve, heal, and affirm your defiant existence within a loving community.
If you come in solidarity: Let's enter this space ready to learn and commit to solidarity that centralizes trans voices. Your role is to listen, amplify trans-led efforts, and actively dismantle the systems that create this annual list.
Let's come together in intentional resistance!
