About this Event
How do we confront trauma, challenge social injustices and promoting resilience?
Join us for this all day conference that addresses the needs of our communities and how to come together to heal through speakers, resources, and a one woman show written and directed by Dr. Marty K. Casey
Cost for attendees is $70 a person or $50 for nonprofit representative. If a group has five or more attending from one agency, cost will be $50 a person.
If people attend the all day event they will receive 10 CEUs (10 hours including 3 hour ethics, 4.5 diversity, 2 hour suicide).
Dr. Marty K Casey's one woman show, "It's Not a Man's World: Healing Generational Trauma" is included in the ticket price however, there is a VIP package available for purchase.
Doors open at 7am, speakers and content from 8am-5:30pm.

8:00 AM - 9:30 AM - Session: Transforming Trauma: Innovative Strategies for Healing, Resilience and Cultivating Resilience (1.5 CE)
Speaker: Dr. Marty Casey
Dive into an engaging session on trauma with Dr. Marty Casey, who will guide you through understanding its profound impact. Discover strategies to support those affected and learn practical techniques for addressing inbred trauma within our communities. Embrace the "Stop, Breathe, Think" approach as Dr. Casey emphasizes the importance of pausing, reflecting, and implementing thoughtful responses to foster healing and resilience. Reviewing four critical areas of resilience that are key to personal and professional growth and providing actionable strategies and practical tools to help you develop and strengthen these areas of resilience. This session will set the stage for transformative learning and empower you to contribute to positive change and empower you to build a robust framework for navigating challenges and achieving long-term success.

9:45 AM - 10:45 AM - Session: Can You See Us?: The Historical Erasure & Invisibility of Black Girls & Women (1 CE)
Speaker: Taylor Bass
Throughout history, Black girls and women have often been marginalized, and rendered invisible in various spheres such as the workplace, educational settings, households, and even in public spaces. Their achievements and struggles have frequently been disregarded, appropriated, or dismissed. This has resulted in a tremendous historical resilience that keeps Black women pushing on through intersectional racism. Given this context, how can we enhance our advocacy and support for this demographic? How can we empower and create a safe space where Black women and girls feel recognized and valued? How can we create spaces where Black women and girls no longer have to “push through” they can just be seen? This session will delve into the historical trends of invisibility and erasure affecting Black women and girls, explore their implications on organizational culture, and subsequently, their influence on clinical care practices. We will also examine the ethical responsibility of service providers to deliver culturally sensitive care that actively support and empowers Black women and girls, fostering environments that honor their experiences and dignity.
10:45 AM - 11:15 AM - Pregnancy Loss Awareness (.5 CE)
Speaker: Lee Howard-Ginther
This session will provide an interactive mediation to explore techniques on dealing with trauma, pregnancy loss and providing a way to support many people facing this grief in silence.
11:15 AM - 12:30 PM - Exhibitor Exploration & Lunch (1 CE)
Enjoy lunch while engaging with exhibitors through an interactive education activity. Connect with exhibitors and explore their resources. Gail Lee, LCSW will review interactive activity, providing information on how networking and resourcing can assist clients and their outcomes.
Afternoon Session - 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM - Session: Healing Lives: Advanced Strategies for Suicide Prevention (2 CE)
Speaker: Adrianne Martin
Engage in a powerful discussion on suicide prevention with Adrianne Martin, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice who specializes in supporting individuals with thoughts of suicide and self-harm behaviors. Adrianne employs person-centered therapy to build on the strengths of her clients, empowering and educating them on how to heal from their pain. This session will provide practical strategies and insights to better support individuals at risk and drive positive change in mental health practices. Learn from Adrianne's expertise and gain valuable tools to enhance your approach to suicide prevention and support.

3:30 PM - 5:00 PM - Session: Breaking the Silence: Tackling the Unspoken Epidemic of Human Trafficking: An Ethical Approach (1.5 CE)
Join local experts for an in-depth exploration of human trafficking, a critical issue impacting Missouri. With hundreds of individuals, including both adults and children, coerced into trafficking each year, this session will address the severe impact of this issue, which encompasses sex trafficking, forced labor, and domestic servitude and explores the ethical responsibilities of social workers and care managers in responding to such cases. This session will address how to balance the need for confidentiality with the ethical obligation to report suspected trafficking, ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals, and navigate the complexities of supporting survivors; providing valuable knowledge and practical tools for understanding and addressing human trafficking, while contributing to meaningful solutions, and support efforts to eradicate this grave issue.

This reflective session will revisit the key takeaways and highlights from each of today’s impactful sessions. Our team will summarize the day’s discussions, reinforce key messages, and share final thoughts on how we can implement these insights in our lives and communities. This closing session will set the stage for continued action and reflection, empowering you to take the tools and knowledge gained today and apply them towards making a lasting impact.
