A professional psychodrama training facilitated by Elizabeth Synnot (from Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Psychodrama Association - AANZPA), focused on transforming early-learned relational patterns into more intentional, adult ways of relating. Through experiential dramatic work and guided reflection, participants explore and repair formative social and cultural influences, developing new possibilities for living and relating in alignment with their values.
Who is this for?
This Psychodrama training is for Counsellors, Coaches, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Psychotherapists, and others wanting to expand their capacity to transform their own and others’ patterns of relating, learnt early in our childhood, to match the adults we, and our clients are becoming.
What is Psychodrama?
Psychodrama helps people break free from old relationship patterns that were learnt in childhood. When we were young, we coped with life using the resources and abilities we had as young children at that time and in that family context. Early relational patterns remain—even when they no longer serve us. Psychodrama provides a method set at your pace, and a tried-and-true structured way, to revisit these patterns and develop new, more purposeful adult ways of relating. In doing so, you may live a life that is aligned with your adult sense of values and who you are.
What are the topics covered in this workshop?
This training workshop will give you the chance to approach experiences from the past, “a cold wind”, in a fresh and supported way. Through dramatic enactment, you’ll be able to explore new ways to relate to old challenges. You will discover new possibilities that were not available to you earlier in life.
We work physically, as well as emotionally and with our thinking and values. Please wear light, comfortable clothing. Bring your preferred way to take notes. We will be learning through experience: theory will be introduced as the dramatic work unfolds and then be taken further in group and personal reflection.
In this workshop we will focus on the first training iteration of “cultural and social atom repair,” a central psychodrama approach for transforming early life relationships and social influences that no longer serve us. This experiential and recursive method of learning enables the time needed for embodiment of ways of relating that refine and expand or may be totally new.
