Transform Drugs Boat Tour: Currents for Change

Bristol’s past and present are deeply intertwined with the global trade of legal and illegal drug economies, from the transatlantic trade in tobacco, rum, and sugar - industries largely built on exploitation - to today’s evolving urban drug markets.

Brigstow is teaming up with Transform Drugs Policy Foundation to take you on a boat tour with a difference. We’ll take you through Bristol’s harbors and hidden histories, exploring how different psychoactive substances have been produced, transported, and consumed within exploitative global systems. We’ll connect past and present, from the economies and commodities of the transatlantic slave trade to today’s legal and illegal drug markets.

Please be aware that the boat will leave from the pontoon outside SS Great Britain promptly at 2pm, there will be a brief introduction to the funding theme and Brigstow beforehand from 1.30pm.

The boat has a cover but please bear in mind that this event will be occurring in December on the water so please wrap up warm and bring sensible shoes and clothing.
