Reading Pride's MyUmbrella LGBT+ project organises the annual Trans Day of Remembrance Vigil in Reading. This year, we will continue the vigil in a film presentation format; however, due to high demand, we are offering multiple opportunities to attend the vigil in person, as well as the option to watch it online.The vigil is a significant part of MyUmbrella's calendar. As part of a LGBTQ+ charity, we celebrate the diversity within the trans* community, while recognising the need to stand together and advocate for greater rights and equality, both locally in the UK and globally.
As in previous years, the majority of those lost to the ongoing epidemic of fatal anti-trans violence are people of colour, particularly black trans* women. The first TDoR vigil in Reading was held in 2015, attracting a large and diverse attendance from across the trans* community and its allies.
