Welcome to the first event of Transgender Awareness Week hosted by Isak Bradley and Vero Brokke Olsen. We will be discussing the different events of the week and give the public, viewers, and listeners trans 101.
We will be talking different terms that we have, there will also be loads of time to ask any questions that you might have. Come join us at Bergen Kjøtt for tea and coffee and snacks.
Vero and Isak are both board members of PKI ( Patient organization for gender incongruence)
Vero (they/them)
is non-binary/agender, and currently 2nd deputy leader
of PKI. They work part time as a personal trainer and offer both gender
affirming and gender neutral exercise and guidance. Vero also has a
masters degree in Global Development Studies, and specializes in queer
theory and anti-colonial theories. During spring semesters they co-teach
the course Gender and Development for bachelors students at NMBU.
Personally, Vero is an existentialist, and this sets a framework for
how they experience and conceptualise gender as something that has the
options of being authentic or in bad faith, but also has the option of
not being experienced at all. Vero finds gender roles to be confining
when applied to themself, and thus rejects gender as a livable category
for their authentic self.
Isak Bradley (He/Him) is one of the organizers of Trans Pride, and Transgender Awareness Week. He is also a board member of the Patient Organization for gender incongruence (PKI) he is a passionate activist working for dignified health care for trans people in Norway. He strives for creating safer spaces, and communities for trans people. Isak is also an artist, and a performer. ‘’I want to create the space I didn't have when I came out, I want my trans siblings to feel proud of who they are’’
