Training with Steel Targets Instructor Course

Weapon manipulation skills and the fundamentals of marksmanship go hand-in-hand to create combative speed and accuracy. This course is for instructors who want to get their students to perform at a higher level, improve their own shooting skills, and understand how steel targets enhance adult learning.

Placing quick, threat-stopping hits on target is the core of all gun fighting skills. Firearms instructors must develop practical, fundamental skills in their officers by challenging them to achieve a balance between speed and accuracy. Quality steel targets can help instructors and their students develop this balance through skill-specific challenges with immediate feedback.

This instructor class provides instructors with information regarding techniques to instruct shooters in the fundamentals of marksmanship, techniques and drills to build speed and accuracy, concepts and techniques to build drills to improve student performance, information on how steel targets and adult-learning affects shooter performance, as well as tips to coach, mentor, and instruct shooters. We also cover safety considerations specific to steel targets.

This class utilizes a highly diagnostic approach to the fundamentals with extensive weapon & gear manipulation. Advanced recoil management, trigger manipulation, shooting platform, movement, and presentation of the pistol will all be covered.

The majority of this program is spent applying the fundamentals of marksmanship while learning how to develop speed and accuracy. This class is designed for the instructor who has a solid grasp of the fundamentals but is looking for information on how to improve shooter performance using quality steel targets.
