Trailblazing Together: Black Folks Taking up Space at Starved Rock Hike


Join us at the Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center for a day of fun, a relaxing hike, and communing with nature and good people. We are a lively social group for Black Folks 40 and over coming together to celebrate and amplify Black voices in the great outdoors. Whether you're a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or just looking to dip your toes into nature, this FREE event is for you. Black Folks, let's break barriers and blaze trails together!



Please make sure to register

Park and meet us at the visitation center at 9 am. We will be taking off at 9:10 am

Please bring a lunch and hydration

This event is for the adult Black community 40 and over (please no children)

The hike is approximately 4 miles and will take us up to 3 hours, including a break for lunch.

Packing List:

  • Waterproof jacket
  • Waterproof footwear
  • Bug Spray
  • Sunscreen (we mean it!!!)
  • Waterproof case or zip lock bag for cellphone
  • Lunch and hydration
  • Kind and fun attitude
