Trailblazers: Plant ID and History Walk at Eggers Grove
About this Event
Eggers Grove is a site full of adventure and beauty. During this walk, we'll go exploring to find the preserve's most alluring plant species. We'll disucss the rich history of the site, and have the opportunity to see some of summer's new blooms and birds as we walk through the preserve.
Difficulty Level: Slow to moderate pace. Flat trail with frequent stops; less than 1 mile. Anticipated 1-1.5 hour hike.
Parking/Meeting Information: Main entrance is located at 112th St. and Avenue E. After driving down the parking lot/road, you can turn left at the stop sign to find the Caretaker's building, where we will meet.
Hike Guide: This walk will be hosted by Lucas Ochoa, a Community Leader with Friends of the Forest Preserves. Lucas calls the Calumet region home, and is passionate about both the local ecology and history of the area.
What to Bring: Please ensure that you are dressed for the weather. A water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses may be beneficial. You may also bring binoculars if you own a pair. Hiking boots or comfortable shoes are recommended.
