Join us for a unique 2-day workshop in the heart of Tunis, run by 2 organizations: Hand Over (Egypt) and Mdinti (Tunisia). This inspiring collaboration combines sustainable architecture and heritage preservation, offering hands-on learning and cross-cultural knowledge exchange.

What to Expect:
Day 1: Earth Construction Workshop by Hand Over
●Theoretical Session: Learn the principles of earth construction, explore innovative techniques, and understand real-world applications through case studies.
●Hands-On Practice: Mix earth and build small wall prototypes, experiencing sustainable design firsthand.
Day 2: Field Exploration with Mdinti
●Guided Tours: Explore the Medina and downtown Tunis to witness Dar Ben Gacem’s preservation projects.
●Interactive Learning: Engage in discussions and site visits to uncover the challenges and techniques of preserving historic structures while honoring cultural heritage.

Mdinti is a group of economic interest in the Medina of Tunis including actors with different activities and scales: artisans, restaurateurs, owners of guest houses, and booksellers. We are above all the living forces of the Medina. Together we aspire to launch a new cultural and economic dynamic that will bring value and generate interest.

Workshop Instructors:
Leila Ben Gacem: Leila is a social entrepreneur, Ashoka Fellow, and known advocator for social entrepreneurship, alternative tourism and SME export rights. Leila is also founder of Dar Ben Gacem (boutique hotel), Dar el Harka (co-working space) and Mdinti (Medina’s economic interest group)
Mahmoud Hussen: Mahmoud is a dedicated site engineer at Hand Over, specializing in earth construction. With a focus on sustainable construction practices, Mahmoud skillfully integrates traditional earth-building techniques with advanced civil engineering principles to deliver outstanding results on-site.
As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Mahmoud has refined his ability to lead complex projects with precision and efficiency. His strong focus on stakeholder collaboration ensures that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Mahmoud’s unwavering commitment to sustainable construction and his passion for innovative engineering solutions make him a vital contributor Hand Over’s mission to deliver projects that combine environmental responsibility with technical excellence.
Seleem Gaber: Seleem is an accomplished architect with a strong foundation in sustainable design and a deep passion for cultural architecture. He graduated from CEU Cardinal Herrera in Valencia, Spain, where he cultivated his expertise in architectural design and developed a keen eye for integrating artistic expression into functional structures.
Currently, Seleem is a vital member of the design team at Hand Over, where he has spent the last two years shaping sustainable architecture projects from concept to completion. His work reflects a commitment to innovation, and passion for cultural architecture that not only resonate aesthetically, but also prioritize ecological and social impact.
