Join us for a fun, hands-on day where you’ll learn the basics of traditional upholstery while creating a beautiful and useful piece of furniture. Perfect for beginners, this workshop will guide you through making a drop-in dining chair seat or a small stool.Starting with webbing and a hessian base, you’ll build up the layers of filling step by step, before finishing with a top cover in the fabric of your choice — including tapestry or embroidery if you’d like to use your own work.
For those wishing to gain more in-depth knowledge and develop their skills further, you can attend all four sessions. This extended option allows you to progress to more advanced techniques, including re-upholstering a stuff-over pad or a traditionally sprung chair, giving you a deeper understanding of professional upholstery methods.
All tools are provided, and materials are available from the tutor at a reasonable cost.
Your tutor, Jenny, is a fully qualified City & Guilds instructor with over 20 years’ experience teaching upholstery. You’ll receive expert guidance in a friendly and supportive environment.
