During this workshop, we'll be creating a stone vaulted subterranean root cellar. Thousands of these structures were built in Kansas as storage for food and shelter in the 1800s. This will be a rare chance to be a part of creating a new stone cellar for Elkstone Farm for their winter produce storage. You will learn about job setup, stone selection, stone dressing and installation. The skills learned can be applied to culvert and bridge construction as well. This is considered a more advanced workshop, so some masonry experience is required. Stonework is a physically demanding trade, so be prepared to work hard, get dirty, and be part of a team. Come be a part of creating a truly unique piece of architecture!
