EKSPRESYON was founded in 2003 by Régine Cadet and Sibyl Graham, two dancers who were born and raised in Haiti. Since its inception, EKSPRESYON leaves its mark on the Montreal artistic scene and is one of the first Haitian Traditional Dance Companies to have created and auto-produced large-scale thematic shows. Throughout the years, EKSPRESYON has been committed to breaking boundaries between artistic genres and has collaborated with several artists to achieve said goal.

Through its mission, which is to promote Haitian Traditional Dances and break stereotypes surrounding Haitian culture, Aïka Mathelier, the current Executive and Artistic Director of EKSPRESYON, is committed to continuing her teachings on Haitian Traditional Dance. Furthermore, she led the unification of three Haitian Dance Companies and Dance Schools towards a common goal: continued growth, recognition, and transmission of Haitian Traditional Dance in the artistic scene.
