Rosedale Friends Church hosts a traditional Friends service, also known as an open worship, once a month, and we would love to have you join us.
A traditional Friends service is a time for us to practice listening to God together in prayer. We meet at 7 PM for about an hour on the last Sunday of every month at Rosedale Friends Church in Salem, Oregon. We typically gather in the Sanctuary.
If you are not familiar with this unique style of service, here is a little information. A traditional Friends service is also known by a few other names: Open Worship, Communion in the Manner of Friends, or Unprogrammed Worship. Whatever you like to call it, this service is a time for us to practice listening to God together in prayer and sometimes sharing out loud if God directs us to. Sometimes we begin our time together with a scripture or opening question as something for us to dwell on as we enter into this time of listening prayer or occasionally someone may open the service with a verbal prayer. Open worship may be completely silent, or may be filled with sharing and singing and speaking, as the Holy Spirit moves each person. It is a worship time that creates space for us to listen to God together, for every attendee to participate, and encourages us to practice embracing our Faith together in community.
