TRA Ask-An-Archivist Panel @ Pitt
About this Event
We're proud to announce that TRA will be hosting our second annual Ask-an-Archivist event panel for archives graduate students featuring four fantastic Pittsburgh-area archivists! Join us next Tuesday, November 10th from 7:00-8:00 PM on the third floor of the Information Sciences Building at the University of Pittsburgh.
Students will hear from Emily Kubinacek and Amanda Ciccone (Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh), Anna Samuels (Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation), and Julia Corrin (Carnegie Mellon University). These archivists will reflect on their own experiences in graduate school and answer crowd-sourced questions from the students currently in the MLIS program on skill-building for the profession, the job market, the nitty-gritty of working in the archives field, and more!
Refreshments will be provided. Full bios of the speakers can be found here.
Pitt and non-Pitt affiliates interested in the archives field are welcome to attend.
The Information Sciences Building is located at 135 N Bellefield Avenue in Oakland, just a block back from the Cathedral of Learning. It is accessible by public transport by any bus that goes through Oakland, including the 61s, the 71s, the 67, the 75, the 82, the 83, the 93, and more. Paid parking is available in the University's lots or on the street, and often becomes easier to find after 6PM (and is usually free!).
This event is organized in collaboration with Dr. Chelsea Gunn of the University of Pittsburgh School of Computing and Information Sciences. We look forward to seeing you there!
