Join us for our November meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the NC Native Plant Society!Wednesday, November 12 at the BREMCO (Blue Ridge Energy) Conference Room in Boone.
Our speaker, Brandon Wise, Deputy Director of Boone Planning and Inspections, will present “Town of Boone Efforts to Encourage Native Plants and Clear Out Invasives.”
Brandon will share an inside look at how the Town of Boone is working to promote the use of native plants, manage invasive species, and incorporate ecological practices into local planning and development. He’ll also discuss recent updates to the Town’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) and how community members can get involved in these ongoing efforts.
Brandon graduated from Appalachian State University in 2015 with a degree in Ecological, Environmental, and Evolutionary Biology. He has worked in environmental consulting, stormwater management, and regulatory compliance, and now oversees permitting, stormwater, and erosion control inspections for the Town of Boone.
