About this Event
As part of our observance of MLK Week, this event honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy by empowering our city to address the ongoing need for justice and equity in environmental and climate-related causes. The event will spotlight the connection between these efforts and Richmond’s RVAgreen 2050 Climate Action Plan.
Through learning from our city’s history, we will explore the definition of Environmental Justice and how it intersects with climate issues, highlighting the work done by the city and the community to create tangible change. Additionally, this event will serve as a precursor to the upcoming Environmental Justice Tours, planned for early spring 2025 in each Richmond district. These tours will allow residents, neighbors, and friends to learn about the local impacts of pollution and how overburdened communities are disproportionately affected.
During the event, attendees can contribute ideas, suggest locations, and provide comments to help shape the tours planned for March 2025.
