Immerse yourself in the history, art and architecture of the Elsinore Theatre in a tour highlighting “The Showplace of The Willamette Valley.”Go behind the scenes to discover the layers of history embedded in this 97-year-old icon of downtown Salem. Learn about the making of the theater and its classic Gothic “nave and aisle” design. Admire the artisan, stained glass, the scenic storytelling murals, and the grand proscenium arch which rises 40 feet above the floor of the auditorium and features 37 Gothic panels. Revel in the splendor of the stage. Experience the wonder of the atmosphere both mysterious and theatrical. Celebrate the impact the arts have today.
The tour concludes with a demonstration of Elsinore’s Mighty Wurlitzer — the largest theatre organ in the Pacific Northwest.
