About this Event
Jump on your bike and join us for a guided tour of Up Cycling! the ambitious new trail of public artworks that runs across Cork city. As part of Cork Cycling Festival Glucksman curator Tadhg Crowley and poet Fionn Rogan will bring participants to the six artworks by celebrated Irish illustrator Chris Judge, sharing insights into the inspiration and development of each work.
The temporary artworks were created for Cork Midsummer Festival to showcase the importance and joy of cycling in urban spaces.
Commissioned by the Glucksman and curated by Tadhg Crowley, the project is a collaboration between the artist and Cork Cycling Campaign that involved a public consultation which helped shape the design and message behind the artworks. The artworks also feature haikus written by Fionn Rogan, Senior Research Fellow in MaREI, UCC. These mobility haikus document the lived experience of a commuting cyclist.
The tour will start at the Glucksman art museum in UCC before taking in the artworks at Thomas Davis Bridge, Mardyke Walk, South Mall, Alfred Street, Marina Market and The Marina.
