Tour de Force of Visual Imagination - Famous Film Posters Exhibit Opening
About this Event
Tour de Force of Visual Imagination
Join us for the opening of the exhibition of famous film posters. Whether you’re a movie buff or just love fantastic visuals, this exhibit will spark your imagination and inspire your creativity. Don’t miss out on an unforgettable time celebrating cinema’s coolest designs!
What
A display of posters created by Polish artists - for many of the iconic American films - celebrates a remarkable feat of imagination. These artists interpreted films through bold, original visual concepts and inventive typography rather than simply placing actors’ photos and stock imagery typical of commercial ads. On view October 3 – November 20. Selected posters will be available for purchase, some at the opening and some after the exhibit closes. This is a unique opportunity to see part of a collection that traveled to central Texas from Poland for a limited time.
What to Expect at the Opening
The full exhibit – posters on display throughout the wall space plus additional pieces on tripods presented only during the opening.
Film screening – Freedom on the Fence (2009), a 40-minute fascinating documentary on the Polish School of Posters, and the artists behind this movement.
Short curator talk – a brief introduction to the creative vision of the exhibit.
Light reception – refreshments to close out the afternoon.
Posters available for purchase - some during the opening, and more available after the exhibit closes.
