Tour: Contemporary Art on Potsdamer Straße

On this tour, we will visit three extraordinary exhibitions: Kameelah Janan Rasheed, “that is complete. and knowledge is another” at NOME Gallery; Morag Keil, “Artificial Intelligence” at Galerie Isabella Bortolozzi; and Tess Wei, “Two in a Lake” at Galerie Molitor.

Rasheed’s work is interested in Black knowledge production: for this exhibition she transformed the gallery space into an extended installation, where notations and markings leave the frame and dance across the gallery space, connecting Xeroxes to photographs to video works. Keil utilizes and reproduces materials from everyday life, provoking reflections on surveillance, consumerism, and representation; one work is a computer monitor, mouse, and keyboard on which the viewer can navigate the artist’s website. Lastly, Wei creates black paintings from sand, oil, and wax on board; slow, continued observation reveals color and shape beneath. Viewing these three exhibitions in tandem will allow for a rich conversation on medium-specificity in addition to exploration of methods of obfuscation and intelligibility.
