Touching into the Three Facts of Existence: Anicca, Dukkha and Anatta and (Impermanence, Suffering and Not-Self)
This Event
During this half-day retreat, we will explore and reflect on these teachings as facts of existence through embodied meditation, empowered silence and Dharma reflections. Please bring your lunch; the practice of mindful eating will be guided by our teacher, expanding the theme of this retreat.
This in-person event will provide a unique opportunity to connect with others on a spiritual journey and deepen our understanding of the nature of reality. Whether you are new to Buddhism or have been practicing for years, this event is open to all who are curious and seeking insight.
Registration
The fee is on a sliding scale of $20 to $100. Remember that registration includes a donation for the teacher, so register as generously as you can.
Scholarships are available upon request. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Use our sliding scale registration for folks who cannot pay the suggested range. Otherwise, please contact the registrar, Helen, at [email protected] to arrange for full financial assistance.

Biography
Ramona Lisa Ortiz-Smith , MBA, brings over 25 years of cumulative meditation practice and spiritual studies to her livelihood as a Spiritual Teacher and Leader. Silent Vipassana (insight) meditation retreats, Theravada Buddhist studies and earth-based indigenous spirituality and healing arts are at the heart of her practice. She is a MTI Certified Mindfulness Teacher, Certified Cloud Sangha Mentor, Focusing Initiatives International Certified Indigenous Focusing Oriented Therapy (IFOT) Practitioner and she is amongst the first cohort to complete East Bay Meditation Center’s (EBMC) 2-year Spiritual Teacher and Leadership training. Ramona Lisa’s spiritual studies include completing Spirit Rock Meditation Center’s Dedicated Practitioners Program (DPP6) and East Bay Meditation Center’s (EBMC) Commit to Dharma Program (C2D3). Details to Consider
-Please try to arrive between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. to register and settle in.
-Bring a covered mug or water bottle, a lunch, your masks (as needed) and your meditation cushion.
-Additional chairs and cushions will be available at the retreat, as well as tea and hot water.
-In the spirit of doing no harm, we ask that you refrain from using scented products that may affect others. The Dharma Center is wheelchair accessible.
-SBMG hosts teachers from all Buddhist traditions at weekly meetings and monthly daylong retreats. All have been welcome since 1991. SBMG is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
