Total Eclipse Cornament

Cornhole, or Corn Toss, is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their corn bags at the cornhole platform until they reach 21 points. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point.

From its humble beginnings at barbecues and tailgates, the bean bag tossing game is now being played in nationally televised tournaments, and competitive leagues all across the country. Cornhole has now become one of the most popular recreational games in the U.S., even passing up bowling.

It’s an easy-to-learn game where anyone can participate. But with improved skills and a good understanding of the rules and techniques, cornhole can easily turn into a competitive sport.

The American Cornhole Association provides a page with a map of tournaments and leagues around the country. The most popular competitive cornhole league is the American Cornhole League. All of its professional events are broadcast on ESPN. Some of the 200,000 ACL members make six figures with sponsorships. There are teams and events also available for college, high school, and international players.

The ACL has started efforts to turn cornhole into an Olympic sport, establishing an international league to grow the game globally.

On Sunday, April 7, 2024, during the Total Eclipse of the Heart festival in Russellville, Arkansas, the organizers have added a Total Eclipse Cornament. This is a doubles cornhole tournament with a payout of $2000 for first place. Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Registration is free and limited to 24 teams.
