Toronto Youth STEM and Innovation Conference
About this Event
The Toronto Youth STEM & Innovation Conference (TYSIC) is a student-run event designed to introduce high school students to the latest developments in STEM with a strong focus on innovation. Last year, we had over 300+ high school students attend TYSIC from schools like UCC, Havergal, Appleby, and St. Andrew's. This is the tenth year of TYSIC, and our mission remains the same: to empower young minds to explore, innovate, and lead in the world of STEM.
At TYSIC, you will:
1) Hear from a lineup of inspiring speakers, including industry experts, entrepreneurs, and researchers. Past speakers at TYSIC include Julie Claveau (Astrophysics - Canadian Space Agency) and Dr. Jennifer Quon(Pediatric Neurosurgeon at Sick Kids), and many other professionals.
2) Tackle real-world STEM problems through creative problem-solving and teamwork. Participants will pitch an innovative project with their group of 4 to a judge panel of corporate leaders. Hundreds of dollars in awards and sponsorships are given out each year to the top 3 winning teams. More details to come!
3) Network and connect with speakers, judges, and emerging talents to explore the latest breakthroughs in science and technology. Delegates are encouraged to engage with speakers post-lecture to explore potential summer internships and future career opportunities.
