Pack a blanket, bring your snacks and drinks, and come hang out with us. Alison Gadsby, Hollay Ghadery, and Selena Mercuri are hosting a drop-in Toronto Writing & Publishing Picnic Party at Christie Pits Park on August 28, 2026, from 12 PM to 6 PM. 🧺📚
This is a casual, end-of-summer gathering for writers, editors, publicists, publishers, booksellers, reviewers, agents, and bookish people of all kinds. Come say hi, meet new people, catch up with old friends, and enjoy an afternoon in the park before fall chaos begins.
The event is free of charge. We encourage donations directly to Ele Elna Elak, an organization of teachers, filmmakers, and community organizers working to provide education and clean drinking water to children in Gaza.
We hope to see you at Christie Pits!
Accessibility Information:
Accessibility is extremely important to Hollay, Alison and Selena. We have chosen an outdoor space serviced by the City of Toronto in order to provide an environment that is central, open, safe and accessible. We have taken great care to find a space that is the most suitable for everyone and recognize that no venue is perfect.
The Toronto Lit Picnic at Christie Pits Park is located in Picnic Area 1, a sheltered space. The park is 2-minute walk west of Christie subway station. For WheelTrans, the street address is 750 Bloor St West. Please note that Ossington and Bathurst Stations are the closest accessible subway stations to Christie Pits Park.
The picnic area is accessed by the flat path entry to the baseball diamond and playground. Please note, Christie Pitts is an inverted dome and other paths areas may be difficult to navigate. This path is accessed at the corner of Christie Street and Bloor Street.
Shelter is limited and will be prioritised for those who need it.
The event entrance is located near 5 Christie St, Toronto, ON M6G 3B1, directly across from TTC Christie Station, and can be accessed at the corner of Christie St and Bloor. Arriving guests can contact Alison for assistance. DM for mobile #
Two gendered public washrooms are available in the park. Unfortunately, we do not have detailed information on the park washrooms at this time. They are serviced by the City of Toronto, and out of our control.
The Bob Abate Community Centre (directly across Bloor Street) list wheelchair accessible washrooms (gender neutral, female and male) on the main floor. More information is available at www.toronto.ca.
There is a water bottle filling station at the park, close to the washrooms. Trees provide shade, but it is recommended you bring a hat, sunscreen and umbrella.
