Schedule

Thu Oct 06 2022 at 06:30 pm to 08:30 pm

Location

Noonan's | Toronto, ON

Join Robert Priest to celebrate the launch of his new poetry collection, If I Didn’t Love the River (ECW Press, Sept. 2022)!
About this Event

A profound meditation on love, death, sex, and sickness, If I Didn’t Love the River speaks directly to the polarizations of our time. In this virtuoso display of sonnets, free verse, prose poems, villanelles, ghazals, and aphorisms, People’s Poet Robert Priest makes it clear why the Pacific Rim Review has called him “surely the most imaginatively inventive poet in the country.”

Robert Priest’s words have been debated in the legislature, posted on buses, quoted in the Farmers’ Almanac, and turned into a hit song. His book Reading the Bible Backwards peaked at number two on the Canadian poetry charts, outsold only by Leonard Cohen. He lives in Toronto, ON.

Join Robert at Noonan’s pub in the Danforth for a poetry reading, Q&A and a guest musical performance!

Doors open at 6:30 PM. Program begins at 7:00 PM sharp.

Book sales made available by Queen Books. Light refreshments will be provided.

This is a FREE event, but please have your registration ready to show at the door.

This launch event is part of the Toronto Lit Up programme, which is designed to spotlight new works and empower Toronto's writers. Toronto Lit Up is funded by the Toronto Arts Council and spearheaded by the Toronto International Festival of Authors.
