About this Event

Each year during the month of August, Toronto Fashion Academy temporarily suspends its regular programming to dedicate its full resources to community outreach, supporting and inspiring local youth, and social responsibility initiatives.

Throughout August, every Saturday, we host FREE fashion and creative workshops designed to help youth ages 7 to 17 to explore their passions, build confidence, and express themselves creatively.

Each Saturday (August 8, August 15, August 22, and August 29) from 11:00AM to 4:00PM, all workshops will be happening simultaneously at TFA (82 Queen Elizabeth Blvd, Etobicoke ON, M8Z 1M5) and each student will take part in the Workshop of their choice:

  • High Fashion Make-Up
  • High Fashion Modeling
  • High Fashion Photography
  • Fashion Design and Styling

In addition to skill development, the students are supported through:

  • Nutritious meals during workshop sessions, as well as food to take home
  • School supplies and stationery provided through sponsors and community partners
  • A safe, inclusive, and mentorship-driven learning environment.

We strongly believe that partnering with a local police division would significantly amplify the impact of this initiative as it reinforces a sense of safety and trust for both youth and their families, while also fostering positive relationship between police officers and young kids in the community.

The Summer Youth Fashion Initiative addresses a critical need for accessible and positive youth engagement during the summer months, when many youth lack safe programming, mentorship, and creative outlets.

The initiative provides workshops that build confidence, life skills, and a sense of belonging through creativity, mentorship, and community support. With the involvement of local police officers and the support of sponsors who provide meals and school supplies, the program removes financial barriers while fostering trust, stability, and

stronger connections between youth, families, and the community.

Officers are invited to attend the first three weeks of workshops in casual attire, engaging with youth/students in the creative process. The program concludes with a final showcase event in a fashion-show-style environment, attended by families and community members. On this final day, officers attend in uniform and formally present certificates of completion to each participant.

This moment has historically been incredibly powerful; allowing youth to see officers not only as protectors, but as mentors, collaborators, and community heroes.
