Toronto 2SLGBTQIA+ Board Games Extravaganza

About Us: Our events are friendly meetups that aim to create a safe space for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, friends, and allies to gather and connect through gaming. Our goals for our events are to foster greater community, help build friendships, and support our community's safe space partners.

Age recommendation, 16 years+

What to Expect: Connecting with you and helping you find a group and a game is literally why we love putting these events on. Should you join us, both our volunteers and veteran attendees will help you feel comfortable and at home.

Whether you're a seasoned gamer or new to the world of board games, this event offers something for everyone. Discover new games, challenge your friends, and make new connections with fellow board game lovers along the way. Come as a group or solo, and our friendly volunteers can help pair you with a community table, assist with introductions, and offer support with any new games by providing a teach of the rules.

Extravaganza events are community first. However you identify on the 2SLGBTQIA+ spectrum, there is always a chair for you at our game tables. Friendly allies are also welcome, so long as they are respectful of the intentions of the event space.

Pay-what-you-can General Admission Tickets: For this Rainbow Gaming gathering, we ask folks to pay what they can, a minimum $5, to help support covering the resources that go into making these volunteer-organized events possible. Tickets are priced and sold per person. Pre-purchased seats will be held for attendees for the first 30 minutes of the event.

Tickets for this event include access to the Cake Cabaret for games, a curated collection of board games, and on-site volunteers who can help you with player introductions, game selection, and running how-to-plays for your table.

Waitlist & Walk-Ups: Since the venue has limited seating, an RSVP on Meetup, Facebook, or Discord does not guarantee a seat, but to help with this, we organize tickets in advance here on Eventbrite to help folks lock in a spot. If the pre-booked tickets sell out on Eventbrite, we recommend joining the waitlist to be notified if a spot becomes available. We will also start selling rush tickets for any seats that are open after 6:30 PM to walk-ups on a first-come basis, and we can accept both cash and card for payment at the door. If planning to do rush, pay-at-the-door tickets, the Cake Cabaret bar will be open with limited standing room for drinks and to social with other guests while you wait.

Changeling Gaming Memberships: Since this is a volunteer-organized event, tickets are pay-what-you-can. Changeling Memberships and temporary passes do not apply for discounts or free entry.

Board Games:

• From classic favourites to modern hits, we will have a wide selection of games to choose from. Some of our top played games include Coup, Codenames, Splendor, Catan, and Love Letter. We also like to bring out the more crunchy games like Wingspan, Viticulture, and many more!
• You are welcome to bring games from your own collection if you wish.
• Connect with fellow gamers and plan your tables ahead in our Community Discord.

Roleplaying Games (RPGs) and Social Deception Games:

• Ever wanted to try a game like Dungeons & Dragons or Blood on the Clocktower? This is your chance! Our volunteers will be at some of the tables, ready and dedicated to leading beginner-friendly games for you to experience!
• Our events feature a rotation of game experts and game systems, so there's always a new world to explore in a one-shot format.
• When you first arrive, you can sign up for these activities or sign up ahead in our Community Discord.

Food & Drink: The Cake Cabaret has a bar that serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options, and of course, cake! Normally, our good friend Nick from Dining & Dragons would be joining us for a food pop-up featuring delicious items, with some accommodations for food sensitivities. For this event, he will be away, and we will miss him! As a substitute, we will be ordering pizza from North of Brooklyn and selling large slices, at cost, for $5 each.

There is no minimum spend, but purchasing is strongly encouraged to support the venue so they can keep offering game nights together. The recommended minimum is $15 per person (~ one drink and one food item)

Want to Volunteer?: We are always looking for wonderful folks to join our friendly team of volunteers who help to make these events possible. From greeting folks at the door, to teaching games, we have a wide variety of tasks behind the scenes that need doing. Volunteers help with set-up, clean-up, and 2 hrs of the event hosting one of the various activities. About : We are a collective of board game instructors who host both public and private game experiences in Toronto and together create game content for YouTube. Our mission is to help folks find the right games for their tables and to create safe, accessible, and welcoming community spaces to play games and make new friends along the way.
