Join illustrator Joey Yu for a landscape collage workshop at the Launch of The Big Draw Festival 2026: Make a Mark!
About this Event

This workshop is part of The Big Draw's Festival Launch at Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, led by artist and illustrator Joey Yu, designer of this year's Festival logo.

The interactive session moves away from line-based drawing, using mark-making and texture to build an image instead. Working with torn and layered paper, participants will explore how collage can suggest light, depth and atmosphere in a landscape, and how it functions as a tool for composition rather than decoration.

The focus throughout is on working intuitively. Rather than aiming for a "correct" result, participants are encouraged to experiment and respond to the materials as they go. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have a completed landscape collage, along with a stronger grasp of collage techniques to apply in future work.

The workshop is suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to full-time artists.
