▪︎ Commissioned by Operafest and based on Canto V (Adamastor) from the epic poem 𝐎𝐬 𝐋𝐮𝐬𝐢́𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐬 (The Lusiads), ⛵️𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨🌍 is a cantata/performance with music by composer Nuno da Rocha for female choir, other instruments and electronics. Led by Gustavo Sumpta, it celebrates half a millennium since the birth of ✍️ Luís Vaz de Camões.
▪︎ After the success of his performance in Forças Ocultas at last year’s Operafest, multifaceted artist Gustavo Sumpta focuses his attention on one of the greatest names in world literature and poetry. The founder of modern Portuguese, the beacon of the country’s culture, Camões is a fascinating, controversial, passionate, adventurous, fearless figure who told our story, a tale of the discoveries, of life, the human condition, the world, and one of the most fascinating and tragic myths of the great Lusitanian epic.
