*We'll do short writing exercises during our meetings, so please bring any writing materials you'd like to use.
1) Reviewing the Week (Seneca)
~What have you done well?

~What have you left undone?
2) Discourse in the Stoa (Epictetus)
~We'll explore various topics and understand how they relate to the three disciplines and to our larger philosophical practice. The title of the event will be shared prior to the meeting, and potentially some discussion questions or comments as well.
3) Writing our own Philosophy (Marcus Aurelius)
~We will give time to crafting our own philosophical language. We will write our thoughts about what was said during the meeting, emphasizing our own principles, roles, and biases. Play with the language, be free and bold, challenge yourself, expand and grow.

We will meet at the Wheelock Student Center at the University of Puget Sound. There is a lot of free parking next to the student center. Feel free to message me for directions or any other questions.
South Sound Stoics meetings will emphasize applied practice, focusing on the practical application of Stoicism. We’ll go over specific actions that we can take to improve our lives, while exploring ancient and modern texts on Stoicism and other philosophies.
There are three primary disciplines that Stoic practices flow from: Desire, Action, and Judgment. These disciplines are connected with other three-part divisions. Using the set of three's is a helpful way to understand, discuss, and most importantly, practice philosophy as a way of life.
As always, everyone is welcome and all sharing is appreciated, regardless of your knowledge or practice with Stoicism or any spirituality or philosophy of life.
