The Top Ladies of Distinction Greater Las Vegas Chapter is proud to partnerwith the New Jerusalem Worship Center (NJWC) to host a Blood Drive for SickleCell Disease Awareness (SCDA).

When: Saturday, February 8, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Where: New Jerusalem Worship Center
This event is held in honor of Black History Month, celebrating the groundbreaking contributions of African American pioneers like Dr. Charles Drew and Dr. Jerome Holland, whose legacies continue to inspire.
Drew, an African American surgeon, was the medical director of the first Red Cross blood bank in 1941. Drew’s research about the storage and shipment of blood plasma proved that blood could be stored for transfusions. As the first African American chair of the Red Cross Board of Governors, Holland was passionate about blood research. His commitment to providing the safest possible bloodproducts for patients in need helped inform many safeguards the Red Cross has in place today for not only patients but also blood donors.
The drive is aimed at raising awareness for the disease and encouraging more peopleto donate. Blood transfusions are one of the most critical treatments for sickle cell patients, which is why blood drives play a crucial role in making sure there is enough supply to help those who need it most. Together, let’s raise awareness, save lives, and honor history. Every donation makes a difference!
