The Back-to-the-Bush Festival in Miles is your heritage train destination for your 3 day outback adventure. Accommodation in Chinchilla (2 nights), all bus, meals and event entrance fees included. This is the ‘Downs Explorers’ first trip on the western line. Be one of the first to experience this nostalgic event.

DAY 1 Toowoomba - Friday 12th September

0830 Arrive at Toowoomba Railway Station Railway Street Toowoomba QLD. Parking is available. (Wilsons Parking - Toowoomba Bus Interchange, 27 Neil Street Toowoomba 1800 727 546) Show your printed ticket upon arrival at Toowoomba Railway Station. Ensure your luggage is labelled with your name and mobile phone number. You will be allocated a railway carriage and seat. Toilets are available on the platform.

0930 Depart Toowoomba Railway Station.

1130 Arrive Dalby Railway Station – lunch available on the platform (included in ticket price)

1300 Depart Dalby.

1430 Arrive Chinchilla Railway Station – disembark

1445 Bus to Chinchilla motel

1500 Book into motel

1700 Bus tour of Chinchilla before dinner

1800 Dinner in Chinchilla (included in ticket price)

2000 Bus back to your motel

DAY 2 Saturday 13th September

0630 Bus pickup to go to breakfast in Chinchilla

0700 Breakfast (included in ticket price)

0830 Train to Miles

1015 Explore Miles and enjoy their ‘Back-to-the-Bush’ Festival (Entrance Fee included in ticket)

Enjoy the street parade, Tough Buggers competitions, tractor pull, street markets, beer festival and so much more. Lunch at one of the many venues at the festival or in town [own cost]

1600 Train leaves Miles and returns to Chinchilla

1730 Bus to the motel

1930 Dinner in Chinchilla (included in ticket price)

DAY 3 Sunday 14th September

0630 Bus to your breakfast in Chinchilla

0700 Breakfast (included in ticket price)

0800 Bus to Chinchilla Railway Station – all aboard

0900 Train departs Chinchilla

1100 Arrive Dalby

1115 Lunch on Dalby Railway Station (included in ticket price)

1230 Depart Dalby

1500 Arrive Toowoomba – guests and baggage unloaded.

1. If you have a dietary reqjuirement of a medical nature please advise us by email [email protected] no later than 7 days prior to departure. It is difficult to accommodate special requests on the day of travel

2. If you would like to sit with friends/passengers who have not booked in your group please email your request to [email protected]

3. Bedding requirements please advise by email [email protected] your request and we will endeavour to meet your request

SDSR makes every endeavour to ensure that tours operate as advertised. Unfortunately, this may not always be possible owing to unforeseen circumstances such as total fire bans or mechanical failures. In such events we reserve the right to make whatever changes are necessary, without compensation. However, any changes made will only be after we have exhausted all reasonable efforts to provide the tour as advertised.

Where steam is unavailable, SDSR will replace it with a Diesel Locomotive.

Times shown on brochures are subject to approval of the relevant authorities and could differ on the day. Correct times will be advised on your tickets or by special email. Refunds will not be given for last minute variations to timetables caused by events outside the control of SDSR.

Some services may cancel at short notice.
