Tools for Transformation: Practicing Emergence

We can feel energized and equipped to make a positive impact, confident in our contributions in co-creating beautiful futures and nourished by fellow changemakers who care deeply about stewardship, solidarity, justice and joy.

In this 4-part Skill Builder Summer Series participants will be introduced to frameworks and practice effective methods that animate transformative change. Whether virtual or in-person, we invite interactive, whole person learning centered in praxis: the overlapping and ongoing process of reflection, practice and theory.

Each skill-builder is 90-minutes and includes a resource guide for continued, self-guided exploration of related tools, techniques and theories.

TOOLS FOR TRANSFORMATION: PRACTICING EMERGENCE

This skill-builder is centered around adrienne maree brown's "Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds." Participants will be introduced to the elements of this framework and learn how to integrate emergent practices in their homes, groups, organizations or communities to start transforming systems at the smallest scale. We encourage everyone to read this groundbreaking book, but it is not required to participate.

This skill-builder will be held outdoors at Arnold Sumpter Park in Baltimore, MD. Street parking is free and plentiful. In the event of rain, we will relocate to an indoor location nearby.

Please bring:

• Lawn chair or blanket
• Journal and writing utensil
• Snack for energy (light snacks will be available)
• Appropriate clothes for the weather
• Whatever you need to be comfortable outside!

Multiple skill-builders encouraged! This series is not cumulative, but we do encourage folks to participant in as many as possible to deepen learning and community building. You can register for each course separately.
