Tony John and the Flatland String Band are from Chocolate City, Burlington, Wisconsin. Tony, as well as pieces of the band, have a past in creating metal music. Over the years,s they mellowed out into writing and performing Country, Folk, and Bluegrass. They like to keep the Classic sound alive taking inspiration from the likes of Willie nelson, The Stanley Brothers, and Townes Van Zandt; along with creating an unique sound of their own. Each member brings a unique sound; each drawing from different musical backgrounds.
This band isn't shy to play any genre they're feeling at that moment. Though staying around the traditions of country and bluegrass. Occasionally you can hear a variety of Jams, Blues, Swing, and even Irish jigs. With Tony Leading with powerful gruff vocals, the band's backing vocals and the addition of the bouzouki and fiddle you can be sure to hear something that'll appeal to you.
