Join us for the first convening in a series of discussions exploring the possibility of establishing a countywide minimum wage in Tompkins County. This session will focus on the data and methodologies used to understand and evaluate wage standards, including living wage calculations and cost of living measures.
The meeting will feature a research presentation by Russell Weaver, who will discuss approaches to setting and adjusting minimum wages using economic and cost of living data. Participants will also hear from partners and speakers working on wage and labor issues in the region, including data specialists from the City and County, engaged researchers from Cornell University and Ithaca College, and contributors to the Health and Safety Council wage study.
This convening is part of a broader effort to bring together workers, employers, community organizations, researchers, and policymakers to better understand the economic realities facing residents of Tompkins County. We welcome anyone interested in labor, economic policy, community wellbeing, and fair wages to participate.
Come learn, share perspectives, and help shape the conversation.
