[Free event when you use ticket link to RSVP] As musical culture grew in the colonies of what would become the United States, the instrument that came to be called the Piano is a vital part of that story. Several fine specimens in the Sigal collection will be discussed that illustrate this development very well.
Early pianos made just before and after the revolution will be discussed, as well as a piano made specifically for the Marquis de Lafayette during his return to America in 1824/25, and a piano that bears a slight ‘vandalization’ owing to the Nullification Crisis of 1828, a fascinating story!
