PoeticLynne Hanson’s gritty blend of Americana, blues, and folk has earned her the nickname “Canada’s Queen of Americana.” Known for high-energy, roots-driven performances—solo or with her band the Good Intentions—her deep, bluesy voice and poetic lyrics draw comparisons to Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch. A two-time Canadian Folk Music Award winner, she’s released ten albums and two poetry books over her 18-year career. Hanson has toured extensively across North America and Europe, playing major festivals and opening for artists like Gretchen Peters and Albert Lee. Her latest album, Just A Poet (2024), is nominated for Contemporary Album of the Year.

About the venue:
Tolmie House is located at 1023 Tolmie Avenue, just two blocks from the Italian Bakery on Quadra street. There is ample street parking and secure, covered bike parking available, as well as easy access on the #6 bus.
Accessibility information:
- There is some couch seating available, as well as a few stools, but most seating will be on folding chairs.
- There are 9 stairs up to the front door, and 5 stairs down to the back door of the house. (There is no ground level entrance.)
- Access to the bathroom is quite narrow (19" at the narrowest point, which is 29" from the floor).
- There is one resident dog, Laika, a terrier mix.
