Toiletry Kit and Card Making at Foothills to benefit LifeMoves Mountain View

Hello Foothills Community,Foothills is excited to announce an in-person volunteer activity at Foothills to benefit LifeMoves Mountain View. After the October 24th service we will gather in the Learning Center. The scope of the project is small, but thoughtful: we will make 40 toiletry kits for the residents of the LifeMoves Mountain View, a transitional housing facility. The work will be divided into four stations (4 tables), two people per table collating specific items that will then be put together in a drawstring bag. The last step will be to add a greeting card signed by volunteers, so there will also be a card-making table headed up by Nancy Cook (thank you Nancy). That means it’s not just a volunteer opportunity, but also a crafting opportunity! Between the kit-making and card-making, there is plenty to do for those who wish to participate.
What we will need from the community for this to happen is as follows:
Before Oct 24th
- Up to six shoppers to purchase toiletry items. To view the priced shopping list, see the link in the comments.
- Let Pastor Jean know which item(s) you are adopting. This list is priced for Amazon, but shop anywhere you like. Just keep in mind that we need full-size items, not travel-size items, and if you want to be reimbursed, we do ask that you try not to exceed the cost noted for Amazon so we stay within the approved budget. If you’re not familiar with the reimbursement process just let Pastor Jean know. These item can also be donated

When you have purchased the items, please drop them off in Pastor Jean’s office. We want to make sure we will have everything we need for this project.
Day of Oct 24th
- We will need a couple folks to help set up and take down tables and chairs.
- Eight volunteers (2 for each table) to collate items.
- A few people to join at the card-making table. We want each of the 40 kits to have a card signed by as many of the volunteers as possible.
Ages:
This is an all-ages activity: children and youth are welcome to volunteer.
Safety:
We will be wearing masks during this activity, as well as propping the doors open for maximum ventilation. We want everyone to feel safe.

We’re so fortunate to be a part of such a generous community. A special thanks to the Outreach Board for their dedication to supporting the wider community.
