About this Event
Patrick Brown, Mayor of the City of Brampton, will be presented with the Toastmasters Communication Achievement Award by Hershaw Toastmasters for his achievement in the field of Communication and Leadership. The event will take place on Monday, November 17, at 11:15 a.m. at Brampton City Hall.
“Mayor Brown reflects our Toastmasters Values of Integrity, Respect, Service and Excellence and supports Toastmasters throughout the city, making him the perfect Inaugural recipient in our club’s 35-year history," says Past President of Hershaw Toastmasters, Dennis Bartel.

Mayor Brown’s communication and leadership achievements include:
- Two terms as Brampton Mayor, also awarded the Prime Minister Award, and since first being elected in October 2018, has led the charge for greater healthcare for Brampton
- Expanding the Civic Hospital and Peel Memorial Center, he instituted four consecutive tax freezes and fought for Brampton residents against the dissolution of Peel Region
- Member of Parliament and the leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party
- Recently helped open the new TMU Medical School
- Organized and hosted the first Hockey Night in Brampton Charity hockey game in 2019 with former NHL stars raising over $400,000 for the cardiology program at Brampton Civic Hospital, and another hockey night in 2023 and 2025 to help fund a second hospital in Brampton.
Mayor Brown has shown support for Toastmasters and our mission by
- Attending the inaugural meeting of Namaste Toastmasters Brampton,
- visiting the Toastmasters booth at the Farmers Market in 2019
- supporting former member Peter Bhatti’s organization International Christian Voice by speaking at events and park dedication for Peter’s Brother Shahbaz Bhatti.
