City Winery St. Louis and TownsendX3.Live presents TGBTG: A Reggie Son Live Experience on September 9th at 7:30pmSinger/Songwriter, Radio Personality, and Media Personality, Shorty Da’ Prince aka Reggie Son” started his career when he was just 12 years old after winning a local contest on Clear Channel’s KATZ 100.3 The Beat in St. Louis.
He held down Saturday’s from 10 am to 12 noon before moving to nights full time (Monday-Friday 6p-10p) when he was 16. He also was a recording artist and was signed to Atlantic Records.
At age 17 , he scored a summer anthem as an Independent artist with ” Wah Wah Wow” bringing his artistry full circle claiming both the #1 song in the city and the #1 radio show in the city. In 2010 at age 19, Shorty moved to Detroit and continued his streak at #1 for two years doing nights on WGPR.
In 2011, BET came calling and Shorty would soon be hosting Red Carpet shoots at the Grammy’s Year End Countdowns, and eventually co-hosting the very successful 106 and Park program for a 2-year run.
While at BET, Shorty also maintained his radio presence while doing weekends for Streetz in Atlanta. In 2014, Shorty became the afternoon drive DJ on Radio One Cleveland’s WENZ 107.9 FM. After one month and taking the station to #1, programming head at the time Jay Stevens called and Shorty was relocated within the company to Washington DC from 2014 to 2017 to do nights on WKYS where he was also #1. During that time period, Shorty was also featured on the TV show “Knock Knock Live” with Ryan Seacrest.
Jay Stevens says about Shorty, “He lives, loves and represents the hip hop lifestyle 100 percent! He has deep connections to all of the hip-hop artists since he is an artist himself. He is 360; sounds great on the radio, is active on social and looks like a star! In 2019, Shorty joined Angie Ange to do mornings on WKYS in DC. This was later expanded to become the Nationally Syndicated Morning Hustle.
With the impact of COVID 19 in 2020, Shorty returned to his roots of St. Louis, MO where he began to pour back into his hometown curating events such as STL Fest & The Give Black Ball. Both events have become staples in St. Louis, so much so that Mayor Tishaura Jones made an appearance at the most recent Give Black Ball to declare & Proclaim November 26th as Jordan Johnson Day in the City of St. Louis.
