Standing Boy – Sunday, March 1st!
Introducing TMBA’s 2026 Travel Club…
The Travel Club is designed as a group ride outside of our local trails. The idea is to get a group of riders together that would like to experience riding in a different terrain. This could be as short as a day trip to Forever Wild Trails in Dothan, AL or as long as a 3-4 day trip to Chattanooga, TN.
For this event, we’re going to start our first destination on Sunday, March 1st, over at Standing Boy Trails in Columbus, GA; If you have never been to this trail system, you are in for a real treat.
This will be a day trip, with 6-7 hours accounted for driving, and around 4-5 hours reserved for to riding and food. We will take a lunch break within the riding time, so please bring lunch and snacks with you, because driving for food only takes away from our time there.
How do we get there?...
We will meet up at Chick-Fil-A off of Bannerman Rd. at between 0615 and 0630, and caravan from there to the trails, wheels rolling no later than 0630. Transportation will be by your own vehicle. Obviously, we encourage carpooling to save on expenses – please take into account that you may need to leave earlier, or possibly stay later, and be tethered to someone else’s driving will. The drive typically takes just over 3 hours, so if you’d rather meet us at the trail, please plan on us arriving between 0930 and 1000. You are responsible for your own gas and vehicle insurance during transportation. Also, there is a $5.44 (processing fee included) parking fee here, that is monitored. You can pay for this in advance on their website, https://buy.stripe.com/bIY2bmgBj3dsbwAaEM, or by QR code when you arrive.
What are these trails like?...
This 30+ mile system of trails brings you to a whole different experience for riding. While there, you fill face a little bit of everything on their trails: rock rolls, drops, flowy berms, jumps, and so much more. There are some gravity trails here (downhill only), which are an absolute blast, but you definitely have to climb to get to them. Most of the trails include features, some are able to be bypassed, but some are literally the trail. So, look before you leap and ride at your own risk. What should I expect from this group?...
This is expected to be a no drop ride that will, based on the number of riders and skill set, be broken into two separate groups, A and B. The leaders will be people who have actually ridden here and that are somewhat oriented with the trail and its routes, and a designated sweep. We will ALL start off with the green trails (7-miles long) to get our legs warmed up and to get an idea of what the terrain is like: Primary Goods to Bimini and back to the TH through Primary Goods (well labeled). From there, we will check our gear, fuel up, and head back out for a longer ride (route TBD). The groups will meet back at the TH for lunch and some down time to recover, and then discuss one final long(ish) route to complete. During our time eating lunch, this may be a good time to evaluate yourself and decide whether you’d like to call it a day or continue riding – by this point, we should have ridden 15-20+ miles, depending on the group.
What do I need for this trip?...
You will be required to provide your own bike (electric or acoustic), a helmet, food for lunch, snacks for the trail, and hydration (lots of it!). I highly recommend a hydration pack and extra gallons of water, because I don’t recall there being any water fountains there. There is a changing station there, if you’d like to bring a change of clothes for post ride, and typically a port-o-potty, too.
Need to know…
• 6-7 hours of driving / 4-5 hours of riding
• 20+ miles of riding
• Varying terrain with potential features
• Bike, helmet, food, and water are required
• Your own means of transportation, to and from, and gas will be needed
• Departure times: to trail - 0630 / from trail - between 1400 and 1500
• Expected arrival time: to trail – between 0930-1000 / back to Tallahassee – between 1730-1900. Return time is dependent on the individual driving.

I look forward to our first Travel Club ride of 2026, and hope that you are able to join us. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and we will do our best to respond within a timely manner.
Thank you!
